Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (This position is full-time onsite in Sycamore, IL.)

UNIVERSAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OBJECTIVES

The Manufacturing Engineer shall be responsible for performing engineering guidance and technical strategic problem-solving to the Operations and Quality teams. The Manufacturing Engineer shall also participate in Machine and Equipment line installations, diagnostics of critical equipment, and creation of effective Standard Operating Procedures. The Manufacturing Engineer shall report to the Plant Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create SOPs and maintain required documentation for the manufacturing processes.
  • Design tooling, guards, mezzanines, and test fixturing for a variety of equipment.
  • Determine feasibility, utilizing lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis to formulate and support improvements.
  • Designing layouts of new equipment, processes, procedures, and systems
  • Assist in trouble-shooting our equipment with our Maintenance Team.
  • Working with both the Operations and Maintenance Team planning and organizing equipment installation.
  • Technical liaison with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance staff.
  • Assure maintenance activity does not compromise product safety; comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
Requirements

 REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in using both SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • 1-3 years of using Minitab.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (with willingness to obtain Green and Black Belt certifications once employed)
  • Ability to collaborate with Production Managers, Lean Manufacturing Managers, Maintenance Team and Quality Team.
  • Advance experience with MS Office, in particular Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering

  • Reasoning –Use logic or reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Mathematical – Arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
  • Language Development – Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people.
  • Technical – ability to repair and/or improve equipment, processes, or systems using appropriate tools.
  • Physical Effort – Heavy effort is required, exerting up to 20 pounds of force constantly, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 100 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Vision – Far, near, and mid-range vision, depth perception, color identification, and field of vision
  • Activity – Regularly required to stand; frequently required to walk, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, use finger dexterity, grasp, feel, talk, and hear; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

ADDITIONAL BENEFICIAL, BUT NOT REQUIRED, SKILLS

  • Ability to coordinate the work of a group to accomplish tasks.
